American, b. 1940
Born in 1940, David Bumbeck received his B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and a M.F.A. from Syracuse University. He has been a professor at Middlebury College, Vermont, during the last 20 years. Bumbeck employs techniques of intaglio printmaking such as etching, aquatint, engraving and photo-transfer. The human figure has been the dominant motif in his prints for over 25 years. Each steel plate may represent 100’s of hours of work. His etchings are virtuoso performances of controlled and assured technique.
