American, 1862 - 1953
Bell studied at the National Academy of Design (1876-1881), at the Art Students League and in Munich with Von Loefftz (and with Chase and Wilmuth).
Bell won a silver medal from the Royal Academy in Munich; a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition (1899), the second Hallgarten prize from the National Academy (1893), a silver medal from the Buffalo Exposition (1901) and a silver medal from the St. Louis Exposition (1904).
Bell's work was symbolic and decorative, often including youthful figures. Examples of his work can be found at Smith College, the Cincinnati Museum, and at the Indianapolis Art Association.
Bell married Mrs. Julia Fritz Overton in 1903. He lived at his country home in Peconic, Long Island when not in New York City.
