for Harry Aiken Vincent
1862 or 1864 - 1931
Vincent was a painter of landscapes and marines and a maker of ship models specializing in the small types of fishing boats. As a painter he was self taught. His second marriage was to Mildred Deltz in 19l6.
Exhibitions of his work were held at Lincoln Art Gallery, New York, 192l including scenes of New England harbors; Cape Ann landscapes at Milch, 1922; Massachussets coastal scenes at Rehn Galleries, 1923; and landscapes and street scenes done in France at Grand Central Art Galleries, 1927.
Vincent also painted sets for the theatre production of "Garden of Allah."
His prizes include the Shaw Black and White Prize, Shaw Watercolor prize, the Isidor Watercolor Prize, the Turnbull Prize, Porter Prize, Vezin Prize, Salmagundi Club; and two prizes from the American Watercolor Society.
Vincent travelled to France, Italy, Spain, England and Morocco. A memorial exhibition of his work was held at the Marblehead Arts Association in 1942
