Born in Chicago, IL, 1923, Leon Goldin received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from the University of Iowa. He is Professor Emeritus of Painting and Drawing, Columbia University. He lives and works in New York City and is represented by Kraushaar Galleries, New York.

Selected one-person exhibitions include Oakland Museum, CA; Felix Landau Gallery, Los Angeles; Galleria L'Attico, Rome; University of Houston, TX; University Art Museum, SUNY, Binghamton; and numerous shows at Kraushaar Galleries, New York. Group exhibitions include Maine Coast Artists, Rockport, ME; Abstract Expressionist Prints, Worcester Art Museum; 56th Annual Midyear Exhibition, Butler Institute of American Art; New American Monotypes, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; and Visions II, Louis Newman Galleries, Beverly Hills, CA. His work is in the collections of Addison Gallery of American Art; Baltimore Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Cincinnati Museum of Art; Everson Museum; Modern Art Museum, Fort Worth, TX; Munson Williams Proctor Institute; New Jersey State Museum; Oakland art Museum; St. Louis Art Museum; and Worcester Museum of Art, among others. He is the recipient of a CAPS Grant; NEA Grant; Guggenheim Fellowship; Prix de Rome; and awards at the National Institute of Arts and Letters exhibitions; National Academy of Design Annuals; Ford Foundation Purchase Award; Gold Medal, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and the Crocker Award for Painting, San Francisco Museum of Art.
