David Levine Studied at Pratt Institute; the Brooklyn Museum Art School; the Tyler School of Art, Temple Univeristy, Philadelphia, PA; and with Hans Hofmann. Among his honors are: the Maynard, Hallgarten, Clark, and Altman prizes, NAD; a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award; a Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, and the Childe Hassam Purchase Prize, the National Institute (?) of Arts and Letters. His work is in such public collections as: the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington, DC; the Brooklyn Museum; the Newark Museum, NJ; and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, California. His cartoons, often for The New York Review of Books, are another facet of his interest; his paintings in oil and watercolor, concurrent with (think he left out the rest of the thought).
