Label TextPhilip Grausman studied at Syracuse University, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the Art Students' League, and received his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1959. Grausman's early work consisted of hammered metal and carved marble works of germinating forms. Since the mid-1970s Grausman has explored the human head as his primary subject and cast it in bronze, pewter, stainless steel, and fiberglas. Like many of his works, "Bondi," illustrates the artist's streamlining and slight stylization of the sitter's features into an elegant portrait rendering.
