This book, Visible Cities, is based on Italian novelist Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities in which he details a conversation between Marco Polo and Kublai Kahn. Polo tells Kahn about all the imaginary cities he has visited within Kahn's empire and finally concludes that all of the cities are actually the same: Polo's home city of Venice.
