Label TextQuite probably, Foote copied Ellen Emmett Rand's 1904 portrait of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York) at the request of Mrs. Thomas Hastings. Foote's version was a bequest from Mr. or Mrs. Hastings to Miss Mann. Several other works, including one of Saint-Gaudens's bronze reliefs, were presented to the Academy by the Hastings Fund following Miss Mann's death.
