Label TextJohn Wilde was one of the most prominent proponents of "Magic Realism," a loosely affiliated group of artists that combined elements of Surrealism with an interest in the Italian Renaissance. Wilde was a highly-skilled draughtsman and was known for working in the unforgiving medium of silverpoint, that, unlike graphite, does not allow for erasure or correction. D. de le R. II is a typically enigmatic work by the artist that depicts a human figure holding an imaginary beast.
