Label TextThe ocean almost totally absorbed Richards’ attention in the 1890s. He spent countless hours studying the shoreline, and sought to get as close to the water as he possibly could. He filled his sketchbooks with graphite and pen and ink drawings of water in motion that verge on abstraction.
