Label TextA painter and graphic artist, Adams began to work in lithography in 1948. He was the founding associate director of the influential Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles in 1960 and the director of the Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque between 1970 and 1985. From a series of prints, drawings, and paintings dealing with the secondhand store motif, this work shows Adams's ability to achieve luminous effects and purity of form thorugh a highly controlled use of the lithographic crayon.
