Label TextA covey is a small flock or brood of birds, especially quail or partridge. Whitaker frequently paints birds, and is known for her sensitive depiction of animals. She studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and worked in New York City as an artist and art director for a number of advertising agencies. She married artist Frederic Whitaker, also a member of the Academy, and for a time the Whitakers were the only husband-wife team to attain this honor.
