Label TextHaving first established his career in South America, Viñoly settled in New York in 1979 and has since designed many different types of buildings. These drawings, presented by the architect in this arrangement, relate to his largest and most complex project, a group of buildings in Tokyo used for cultural and business activities and completed in 1996. In a semiabstract manner, Viñoly has synthesized the formal relationships of parts of this complex. The nearly two-hundred-foot-high Glass Hall, which has the shape of a boat when seen from above, as is the case here, is represented by the areas of red. The geometric units of four performing arts spaces are among those forms above it. The arc below the Glass Hall designates the viaduct of a rail line.
