Label TextRexford Elson Brandt first studied at Chouinard Art Institute in the late twenties, before eventually graduating from UC Berkeley. He returned to Southern California and began exhibiting with the California Watercolor Society, eventually joining with Phil Dike to open the Brandt-Dike Summer School of Painting. Brandt became known for his strong geometric style exemplified in this self-portrait.
