Label TextA notorious firebrand, Larry Rivers' work is often positioned somewhere at the intersection between Abstract Expressionism and Pop art. Causing a stir with his figurative paintings in the 1950s at the height of abstract expressionism, Rivers worked tirelessly with the figure for the rest of his life. Depicting fashion in his work was a sustained interest for Rivers, as was humor and provocation. Headless Fashion is a comedic take on a fashion conscious woman who appears to be sauntering along oblivious to the outside world while dangling a colorful accessory behind her.
