Label TextAs a founder of the National Academy, Charles Cromwell Ingham was not required to submit a diploma portrait. Like most of his colleagues, however, he eventually presented his self-portrait to the Academy in compliance with the By-Laws which were adopted in 1839 and which required portraits from all elected associates.
