Label TextBorn in New York City, Everett Raymond Kinstler studied at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design and as a young man began working as an illustrator for magazine and book covers. He eventually began painting portraits and while he continues to work in the landscape and general figure study genres, he has nevertheless established himself as one of the nation's foremost portraitists. Perhaps no other artist has painted as many prominent Americans as Kinstler. The artist creatively incorporated a mirror in Triple Self-Portrait in order to show not only his visage but also the act of creating a self-portrait.
